“There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: Those who are afraid to try and those who are afraid you will succeed” ~ Ray Goforth
Something happened to me recently that changed my perspective When I saw this quote it resonated with me.
Because of what happened I realised while I was frustrated and annoyed at first I hadn’t stopped to think about the motivator.
I actually think the latter was at play and I think it is subconscious and I also think from reading that quote that people can be both at the same time.
When you are faced with naysayers or don’t feel supported.
1) People probably are not even aware of their actions.
2) The impact they are having on you.
3) What’s motivating them to behave/react as they are.
I think if you are a 2%’r .
You know what you want.
You have goals and dreams .
And you take action on them …
This triggers the other 98%.
Even if they don’t realise they are being triggered.
It touches nerves subconsciously.
It reminds them that they haven’t achieved the things they wish they had or in most case never even started.
They feel guilt, shame and anger at themselves (type 1).
And, or They fear if you go after your desires you will leave them behind (type 2) so they say and do things consciously or subconsciously to put you down or talk you out of following your goals.
The only people we should listen to are the ones that have succeeded at what we desire to achieve and the ones that always support us unconditionally.
At the same time love those that act out of fear because they most probably are not aware of their actions or why they act that way.
And because Love is one of the highest forms of vibration and that can only support us and dwelling on their actions will cause us to “drift” away from our dreams and goals and cause us to waste precious time moving towards our ultimate desires.
Plus we never know who may or may not walk our path with us in the future and we could let someone who may not even walk that path change the trajectory of a destination they will not even share with us.
The only constant that most people can rely on being their as we walk our paths is “Ourselves”.
We don’t truly know what will happen or who will be their with us as we go along our way so we might as well pursue the calling of our Soul. Our Purpose regardless of anyone else’s thoughts or actions.
As the William Ernest Henley poem Invictus states be “The Master of Your Fate. The Captain of Your Soul”.
Opposition is common. Giving up is Optional.
